Artist Statement

Brittany Lauren is a contemporary artist inspired by wildlife that surrounds us all. Her curiosity grows with each interaction she has with these wild creatures. Whether it be witnessing an animal on the trail or finding tracks left in the snow, she is compelled to explore their lives and share them through her paintings.

Brittany strives to capture their magnificent beauty and innocent demeanour. She places her subjects in a neutral space to bring forth what is typically hidden from their human counterparts.

Each piece on a stretched canvas, applying an impasto background using a palette knife to create wisps of texture. She enjoys acrylics for the broad array of techniques including glazing and washes. The quick drying time allows her to build up many layers, which is essential for creating realistic fur.
